[ Koenji ]

Koenji, Asagaya, Umesato
These are the small divisions in the area we live in. I am constantly taking photos of things in this overall area and have included many here. There are 4 train stations on 2 lines- the famous JRChuo line that runs all the way to Nagoya the Marunouchi line Metro or underground. We use all 4stations.

Koenji is known for the many temples that were moved here during the post wwII clean up of Tokyo as well the many "live houses" (small bars where bands play), and the many used clothing and other shops and restaurants that line its small alleys and twisted streets. You can also find lots of cool architechture old and new and lots of culture including the yearly "fools festival".

Asagaya is where one of the scenes from the movie "The Ring" (the original version) was filmed. It's best know for writers and protestors from the 60's and 70's. Now it seemes to be where middleaged people have settled down, maybe they were the protestors. It's also know for jazz clubs and the yearly festival.

Umesato is a really small area about 10 blocks square. We live in the middle of it at the Shin Koenji Royal Mansion. Sounds glamerous doesn't it. Yah its not. Mansion is the term they use for any building over 4 floors. Its better than an aprtment which as I was recently told you can hear the person in the next apartment snore.
