[ Futabonko ]
3 guys and helpers travel from place to place setting up what I call community instalation events. Two members, The Kimuras live in the Asagaya Jutaku- the area where the Totan gallery is located.
They wanted to connect people who live in the complex (that will be torn down soon) so they decided to do chalk drawings of people's "kage" shadows. Then the the person who owned the shadow would draw designs inside with different color chalk. They take pictures and the print them out in the gallery. The person would then cut out their shadow and Kimura -san would hang them in a room and cast a new light on them. People would then come and see each week as new shapes were added. I have included more photos. Later we had them over our house for a BBQ on the veranda. They both work in architect offices to support their own artistic habits. Futabonko is now doing a project for TBS- a Tokyo television station (like CBS or NBC). The new project is a book chronicalling the small shops that have been there for years and will probably be gone soon as progress moves in. Progress carryies a heavy stick.
